A Virtual Movement Challenge!

Last December, RunningBrooke tested out a virtual version of our Movement Challenge, a fun and popular competition where everyone wins. Typically held in classrooms, this virtual challenge sprinkles exercise throughout the school day to help squash boredom and bring on the focus. Teachers and kids loved it, and we’re excited about rolling it out big time in March!

Nearly 100% of teachers who turned in their survey said the brain boosts were a positive addition to their teaching and the kids learning. This go-round, 10 out of 14 elementary schools, 80 teachers and 1,880 students participated! Schools were awarded $100 per participating teacher, with the prize money going toward supplies and equipment to increase physical activity during the school day.

An ACPS student exercises from home along with her teacher and classmates.

Additionally, one teacher from each participating school will be randomly selected to choose from one of these awesome prizes:

  • A computer monitor for virtual teaching; or
  • A Green Screen to support virtual teaching; or
  • Kinesthetic resources, including expert how-to materials and wiggle cushions.

Having fun, getting brain boosts and making money — sounds like a win-win! Be on the lookout for lots more movement in March.
