Get To Know RunningBrooke’s Team

Introducing Alex Rotruck! Alex works on RunningBrooke’s Move2Learn programs within the ACPS system, helping to get kids active throughout the school day and keep them primed for learning. He’s also a Health and Physical Education Teacher at Jefferson-Houston Elementary School, so it’s a natural fit!

We sat down with Alex recently for a quick Q&A to learn more about him. Read on!

Q: You won a “new teacher” award in the 2019-2020 school year. Can you tell us a little about it?

A: It was the “Teacher of Promise Award” given by the Jefferson-Houston PTA. I honestly wasn’t sure what it was when they gave it to me, lol, so I was shocked and thought it was very cool!

Q: What’s your favorite way to get physical activity these days?

A: Running for sure. I try to do it four to five times a week.

Q: What’s a fun fact we’d love to know about you?

A: I coached a football game at Heinz Stadium, home field of the Pittsburgh Steelers!

Q: What’s a secret talent you have that we should know about?

A: Public speaking.

Q: Do you have any pet peeves?

A: Listen up kids: Students talking in the hallway when waiting to go to the next class, especially when other classes are in session!

Q: Lastly, what are you binge-watching during the pandemic?

A: Ozark!
